Country music trailblazer opens the vault to release her previously unheard recording of the song later made famous by Faith Hill

NASHVILLE, TN, UNITED STATES, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- LaCosta Tucker is opening the vault for a special piece of country music history with the August 27, 2026 release of her previously unheard recording of “It Matters to Me.” Written by acclaimed Nashville songwriters Ed Hill and Mark D. Sanders, “It Matters to Me” would later become one of Faith Hill’s signature early hits and the title track of her multi-platinum second album. But before Hill’s version became a country radio staple, LaCosta had already recorded the song. STREAM NOW!

“I was driving down I-65 in Nashville listening to the radio when I recognized the intro immediately. It was ‘It Matters to Me’—my song—but the voice was Faith Hill’s. Tears streamed down my face. I was heartbroken, but also happy knowing I had chosen a great song that became a huge success for a beautiful young artist. I’m so happy the world will finally get to hear my version.” — LaCosta Tucker

The single continues a remarkable period of renewed activity for LaCosta, following the recent releases of “Woman Behind the Wheel” and “Your Shadow’s Gone.” Rather than simply revisiting her past, LaCosta has been introducing both new and previously unheard music to longtime fans while reaching a new generation of country listeners.

LaCosta first captured national attention in the 1970s after signing with Capitol Records, ultimately placing 14 singles on the country charts and releasing five albums. Her recordings include “Get on My Love Train,” “This House Runs on Sunshine,” “Western Man,” “Changing All the Time,” “Loving Somebody on a Rainy Night,” and “What’ll I Do.” Her career also brought appearances on programs including Dolly, Nashville Now, Pop! Goes the Country, The Jim Nabors Show, Dinah Shore, Hee Haw, and Hoyt Axton’s Country Western Rock and Roll Boogie Woogie Gospel Hour.

Twice nominated as the Academy of Country Music’s Most Promising Female Vocalist, LaCosta later recorded for Elektra Records working with acclaimed producer James Stroud. Today, LaCosta divides her time between Nashville and Las Vegas and continues performing and recording. She also frequently collaborates and shares her experience in the industry with her daughter, award-winning country artist Cali Tucker. With “It Matters to Me,” however, the spotlight returns to an extraordinary moment preserved from LaCosta’s own recording history. A song the world already knows… is about to be heard in an entirely different way.

LaCosta Tucker’s “It Matters to Me” is available on all streaming platforms.
